5% of Facebook.com is worth…..

September 26th, 2007, Holly Matson

500 million dollars.  This past week Microsoft has been said to be throwing around the idea of buying 5% of the popular Social Networking site and this is the monetary value that is being toted with it.

Do you think that this is a reasonable amount or does this seem to be a bit much?

How to send more efficient emails

September 24th, 2007, Eric

This is really a letter to people who send me bad emails. Are you one of them?

Do you send emails with subject lines like the following?
- thoughts
- updates
- website
- web orders
- where are we with these?
- (no subject at all)

Or, do you:
- fail to include any call to action in your message
- forward along long email strings without comment
- reply inside or at the bottom of another message
- include topics from multiple projects in a single message
- forward ten messages, each with one word doc in them

If so, you should feel bad, at least for a minute or two. Then, you should change your ways and send better emails.

Sprint goes Viral with Waitless.org

September 17th, 2007, Holly Matson

Sprint has launched an interesting new campaign to promote their night call plans starting at 7 instead of 9. Waitless.org offers videos (like the one below) showing time saving tricks for basic activities and a ‘life rebate” of how much time you save not waiting.

What are your thoughts? Is this a cool way for sprint to market this ‘less waiting” feature or is this a bit off for what they sell?

Ever had a hard-drive fail?

September 14th, 2007, Eric

It happens, and it’s a bummer. That’s why you should protect your data with drobo, the worlds first storage robot: http://www.drobo.com. This is the easiest way to set up a hard-drive raid configuration.

On to other topics… Here is a video of Christopher Walken roasting a chicken:

MySpace fights back with the help of Seventeen Magazine and “Freshman 15″

September 14th, 2007, Holly Matson

As everyone pretty much knows Facebook has taken over much of MySpace’s user base.  MySpace is coming up with numerous way to gain interest in their network.  One of these is a MySpace video page that is being funded by Seventeen magazine called “Freshman 15.”   This page follows 15 girls through their freshman year of college.   Hoping to capitalize on the interactive web-based video series market like the much talked about Lonelygirl15,  MySpace  feels this is going to be a sure fire hit.

Is MySpace heading in the right direction or are they simply a trend of the past?
